As we delve into the annual season of Kentish strawberries, Pimms and the pitter patter of yellow balls across the lawns of SW19, cheering on our favoured tennis players. Local courts across the country are busy with those engaging with their inner Federer, dreaming of a topspin forehand landing on the right side of in.
We are thrilled to be able to announce our partnership with the Rye Lawn Tennis Club – offering our guests the opportunity of playing on the hallowed turf of TN31.
Rye Lawn Tennis Club is a small club with big credentials. Set on the banks of the River Rother, it is part of our DNA – in fact, it is because of the club that we are here. With 8 impeccable grass courts, 3 artificial clay courts, 2 padel courts, 2 squash courts and a croquet lawn, there’s something for everyone.

We highly recommend you try out the grass courts – beautifully maintained with input from the head groundsman of Wimbledon – they are often quoted as “the finest grass courts outside of SW19”. Our ties to the AELTC are historic – from the Club’s creation in 1922 it has had strong links with the All England – which has helped to make the Club a really special place.

· Player 3 and 4: £5 each
Courts are available at certain times, for those playing on grass there is a predominantly white dress code (anything goes on the clay courts). Bookings can be made one week in advance and all information can be found in our digital guide on what to wear etc. All you need to do is get in touch with us, and we’ll book a court for you.

The club hosts a number of events throughout the year. Our main tournament in August, attracts a plethora of talent. National, and the occasional international player take to the courts. Harvard and Yale come every four years to play on the grass before they play the Prentice Cup at Wimbledon. The standard is exceptional – come and watch and enjoy a pint or a Pimms!
